How I have missed you Lie to Me. It has been a couple of weeks too long since I have last seen Cal and the team.

This was an excellent episode of Lie to Me. It had a great combination of drama, suspense and humor.

The premise of this episode was interesting:

Tonight's episode finds Cal revisiting a case from his past and he finds that it affects the one person in the world he wants to protect the most: his daughter.

Interesting start to this episode. A man being executed for murdering a child making a deathbed statement denying the murder. The thing is: Cal believes him, but cannot get hold of the governor in time to stop the execution.

This case was Cal's first case that led to an execution and his ex-wife, Zoe was the prosecutor for the case.

Cal knows this guy lied during the trial, but was telling the truth at the execution.Cal wants to know why.

The FBI receives a new telephone message that is an exact voice match to the same messages that the killer sent 17 years ago. This time, they are going to the uncle of the first little boy that was killed. Now Zoe and Cal BOTH want to know if they helped convict an innocent man.

This episode shows Cal at his eccentric best. If I know one thing about Cal, it's the fact that he will do anything he has to in order to get to the truth of the matter. He is a non-medical House. Boy, that just makes me start jonesing for a House/Lie to Me cross over. Have to ponder that one awhile... Cal vs. House.

But I digress...

Cal gets so bat-shit crazy over this case, and everyone else starts doubting his decision making so much, that the FBI actually kicks him off the case. Yeah, like that's going to work. As Cal tries to explore a lead involving a former girlfriend who inexplicably checked herself into a psych ward, Agent Reynolds said Cal was looking crazy. Only Cal would think to use that to exchange to get himself admitted into the same psych facility in order to talk with the girlfriend.

And only Cal would have to rely on Zoe to help get him back out. Watching Cal try to get out after finding out the information he needed was the funniest part of the night.

The most drama of tonight came to Cal through Emily. One thing no bad guy wants to do is threaten the kid. That will bring down a beat down if EPIC proportions from our man, Cal. I really love seeing Cal in Daddy Bear form; those scenes are equally funny and touching and the viewer really learns a lot about Cal from these scenes.

Fortunately, it was a false alarm... but it was enough to piss him off mega-bad.

I will admit, I called the bad guy tonight. As soon as the guy made his first appearance in the episode, I knew he would be the baddie for the evening.

I have to admit, there is one small thing I miss with this show: the study of truth telling and lies. I haven't seen much of that lately; and I always found that one of the more unique aspects of the show. Watching Cal bust a liar is always fun to watch... and I want to see MORE, dammit!!!

Tonight's episode... very good. Had a pretty good combination of elements and the story was interesting. As always, Tim Roth makes this show. This fan-girl is happy that Tim is on TV.


Tuesday and Wednesday, we have another special week of America's Got Talent. You know I'll be there with bells on.

Well, leave it to Cal Lightman to get himself into a pile of shit! This episode of Lie to Me is quite interesting tonight.

What is so intriguing about this episode is the fact that everyone is keeping secrets at the Lightman group... and tonight's episode threatens them all.

Cal becomes a suspect in a young street fighters murder, Torres and Agent Reynolds BOTH cover up evidence that could implicate Cal in that murder, and Foster is hiding her relationship with Dr. Burns,the psychologist from the juvenile prison from a couple of episodes back (who might be hiding a secret of his own).

Everything happens all at once in this episode. You have Cal working with the last guy who fought the victim, while avoiding the FBI like the plague, Torres and Reynolds are trying (and sometimes failing) to keep their evidence tampering from coming to light, and Foster is trying to find out what secret her secret boyfriend is hiding from her.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed in the slippery slope that everyone was travelling down in this episode. I didn't like seeing everyone cover up for Cal. I was happy when Cal finally came clean to the head Fed-- to get Reynolds out of trouble-- but Cal needs to stay out of trouble... especially for his kid's sake.

As for Foster and Dr. Burns, all I can say is CLICHE. I was disappointed in where this storyline went. There are some secrets that don't need written into TV shows, and (spoiler alert) undercover Fed is one of them. Please retire that... I'm beggin' ya!n't have

So, I don't have to say that everything worked out in the end... seemed a little too pat of an ending for the gray areas that everyone waded through tonight. Oh, well... not every time at bat is going to be a home run, now is it?

Hopefully next week will be better!




Besides Lie to Me, we also had the Summer Finale to the funniest show of the summer The Good Guys. We at the Warrior don't give a shit about those snotty tv critics who have done nothing but complain about this show. They need to get the stick out of their collective ass and take this show for what it is: a well-written and amusing send up of the cop genre. The slap-stick is glorious in this show as is the dialogue--especially when it comes to Dan Stark.

Bradley Whitford makes this show. His Dan Stark is hottest mess of a cop that has been on TV in ages. Just about every word out of his mouth could either offend a person or turn them on. (and on Twitter... it is the latter). The thing is, though, beneath the drunk schmuck, there is a good cop; and it is enjoyable to watch the dumb schmuck good cop bust himself some punks each week.

Now don't think I am going to ignore Colin Hanks. I love how his Jack Bailey has developed from a stick-in-the-mud to a cop that is just a mustache and one good bender away from becoming a Jr. Stark.

Add to those two a great turn by Diana Maria Riva as Lieutenant Ana Ruiz, RonReaco Lee as snitch/police guinea pig Julius, and some of the funniest bad guys to grace a TV screen, and this show has become must-see TV on the warrior front.

This week, we got to see a different side to our dear Dan. He fell in lus--uhm-- love with a US Marshall, played superbly by ex-Criminal Mind profiler Lola Gluadini (Don't tell the head warrior I mentioned Criminal Minds...he feels that show is the spawn of Satan).

Anyway, watching Whitford's Stark go from throwing every ham-fisted line you could ever think of (plus a few you couldn't)to becoming an emotional wreck after a night of passion in the "aluminum love cradle," was one of the most entertaining arcs I have seen in quite awhile.

Don't think that Dan's love/lust was the only thing going for this episode: we also had two hilarious scenes involving a taser, and a hit man with mommy issues. So much dorky and funny goodness and this turned into a riotous summer finale for this very UNDER-APPRECIATED TV show.

The Good Guys returns this fall with new episodes; and it is TV Warrior's hope that people will tune into this extremely funny show and learn to appreciate it for NOT being a major social commentary, cry in your hankie drama or multiple story arc mystery. It's a cop comedy... and a damn good one at that. We'll miss you, Dan Stark. Don't worry, though, we'll meet again in September.

Oh, Lie to Me is such a great way to start the TV viewing week. There is drama, mystery, humor and, of course, Tim Roth. Put these elements together and you have one of the best shows on TV.

This week's episode involves three things that make for tasty good mysteries: politics, women, and murder.

Aw, yeah..Melissa George is back as Clara is back this week.

This starts with a cute staffer for the governor of Virginia,Michelle Daly, getting shot-- Cal is pretty certain that the Governor was sleeping with her and that she WAS the target, but others think it might just be an assassination attempt on the governor. Cal leaves to interview the governor, and Clara begs him to go easy on the Gov. Clara has a lot of respect for the governor and might just be starting to rue the day she became majority partner for the Lightman Group.

It was very interesting as Cal and the group tried to get to the bottom of Michelle's murder. There wasn't a lot of body language reading, but what they did do really helped out quite a bit; and oh, isn't it fun to read a bunch of politicos... who train themselves to put on the most honest-looking front possible--especially when they are talking nothing but bullshit.

Of course, there were misdirects everywhere in this episode. There was the governor and his temptation for infidelity, the chief of staff and his penchant for both infidelity AND covering up secrets, young Michelle and the "did she or didn't she" kill someone and then run and the Governor's wife with what she did and did NOT know about the entire situation.
It was very interesting watching Cal and Foster pick through each layer of lie and innuendo as they worked to discover the truth... and then there were some very interesting twists along the way.

I would say the biggest twist for this week involved Clara. Oh, yes, we knew there was some hella good sexual tension brewing between Cal and Clara; and we were about 99.999% sure that they were going to hop in the saddle before all was said and done.

We were right; and let me just say two quick things: 1. Damn, those two were going to eat each other's faces off and 2. the twitterverse was NOT pleased with that development... not at all. Anything that threatens the shipping of Cal and Foster (Coster shipping.... Loster perhaps?)does not go over very well with the tweeple.

Well, thank the cosmic stars that the writers knew in their heart of hearts that Cal and Clara weren't going to work out; and the way they tied off the loose end of Clara and her majority stake in the Lightman group was both something I didn't see coming and very fulfilling. Let's put it like this: if you are going to go into business with Cal Lightman, don't lie to the man. Especially if it is about the case he is working on. He will make you pay... dearly.

I admit, there were some parts that I saw coming a mile away, especially when it came to the main baddie of the week and the eventual fate of one of the main henchmen(SPOILER HINT: Hell hath no fury); but it was still entertainingly put together and enjoyable to watch.


Besides the main story, there was quite an interesting little secondary story involving Loker and Emily. It seems Loker has started to become rather protective of Emily; and in a typcial teenaged fashion, Emily misinterprets everything that Loker says and does. This leads to the most "aw shucks" and "Oh, shit, Lightman is going to KILL Loker" moment of the season. And seeing Cal's reaction... priceless. Harsh, but totally priceless.... especially when Emily makes him apologize for it in the end.

So, another week, another tasty good episode of Lie to Me. Tomorrow, I will be back with another live episode of America's Got Talent.

Last week, I did not get to blog on Lie to Me due to writing the premiere blog on Rizzoli and Isles. Well, I'm back this week and looking forward to giving you all the lowdown on Cal and company.

Last week, in a major twist, Melissa George made a return appearance as Clara, the supposed Black Widow whom Cal helped acquit of murdering her stinking rich husband. Well Clara came back and in an obnoxious, yet totally fulfilling twist of fate, becomes managing partner for the Lightman Group. And believe me, there is enough sexual tension between Cal and Clara that Cal doesn't mind one iota.

But on to this week:

This week's episode focuses on Torres and her sister.(Guest star Alyssa Diaz). Diaz plays Ava, Torres' half-sister who is busy doing a bit in a juvenile detention center (she's feisty, this one).


This episode was very good and very interesting in delving into Torres' past and her family.

It seems that Torres' half-sister planted herself right in the middle of a B and E crew that adds a touch of murder on the side. First with a homeowner, and then with a pregnant friend of Ava's who held the key to unraveling the gang's activities.

Throughout the episode we get a real juxtaposition between Torres and Ava's past as we learn about their stories and Cal's relationship with his daughter, Emily. Where one father was a drunken lout who enjoyed beating on his daughters, the other is busy teaching his daughter how to drive and learning to let go just a little. I thought this comparison was subtle, but very well played in tonight's episode.

This really was a really good chance to see the cracks Torres' armor. As Cal and the team kept getting closer to the gang and their handler, Torres had to face her own trust issues concerning Ava along with the guilt she felt from her own betrayals of trust in her life. One of the best scenes in tonight's episode was when Torres was drunk off her ass at Cal's as she's talking to Emily about how good of a father Cal is compared to her own. When Cal comes in and proceeds to sober her up (which I have had to do to a few friends throughout my life... it ain't fun), seeing and hearing the desperation she possesses as she figures out that Cal is disappointed in her was almost heartbreaking. I think she really does look to him as a father figure. It was well written.

There was some levity in tonight's episode as well. Leave it to Cal to break a person out of jail in order to solve a case; and bless Special Agent Reynolds for knowing when to just go back to work and let Cal do what he needs to do.

This episode also saw a different side of Foster come out as she got beat down hard by the gang as they went to steal a jeweled egg that could be used as proof of the criminal conspiracy going on at the juvenile detention center. The way Foster went all uber bitch on one of the little punks involved was a thing of beauty. I wanted to stand up and cheer her on. That and I LOVED how Foster put Torres in her place when Torres was busy accusing Ava of being involved in the break-in. I'll hand it to Foster, she will not back down when she sees someone getting the shaft. Torres learned the hard way.

I wasn't surprised by tonight's bad guy(s). When something is going down in a correctional facility... you might as well keep the search localized to the facility--both inmate AND staff. What I will say, though, is I really enjoyed how Cal put the screws to the main baddie... by making them confront those they have kept in an inferior position-- the kids. Yes, these kids did stuff that required they be punished...but they still need good influences, and the main baddie here was NOT. Kudos to Cal for letting those kids see a little bit of faith restored.

As to Ava and Torres-- I think it will be a long road for them to become super close, but they took good steps in tonight's episode and Ava ended up in a nice alternative school... thanks to Cal.

As always, this has just been another quality outing by the Lie to Me gang. It took quite a while to get to this season, but it has been worth the wait. If you are coming in late, I highly recommend finding earlier episodes online or getting hold of the DVD's. You won't regret it one bit.

Tomorrow, the next 12 of the top 48 perform on America's Got Talent and I will be there with bells on!

This week's episode of Lie to Me was quite interesting; and considering the state of affairs in the world, quite uncomfortable to watch.

This episode finds Cal and the team setting out to help an Iraq war veteran named Jeff Turley who almost killed his own child. He keeps claiming that someone is after him. During their preliminary work,Cal and Foster find out that he is about to be awarded the silver star.

Cal spends quite a bit of time pushing this guys buttons to see whether he is suffering from PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder). I have to give it to the guest star,Enver Gjokaj, he did a REMARKABLE job portraying a veteran fighting the memories of war and trying to keep from losing his mind. I was engrossed with his character; and was in turn sympathetic to him and frightened by him.

Cal and Foster end up giving Turley an fMRI and find out that he is seeing everyone as an enemy. Cal also discovers that Jeff is more ashamed than proud to be receiving the silver star.

I love the technology Lie to Me uses to study truth and lies and emotions. In this episode,Foster uses a virtual reality machine to help Jeff relive the incident that got him the silver star. He starts reliving the incident and you can tell that he's flipping out at the reenactment. When he gets to a red door, he starts dodging going through the door and Cal calls him a coward. Jeff replies "you calling me a coward, Captain?" Cal has Torres and Foster go to find the captain, Captain Renshaw, who is about to re-deploy to Iraq.

We find out from Renshaw that Turley froze up during the firefight and the entire team wanted to kill him for a moment. Foster and Torres ask why the captain recommended Turley for the silver star. Renshaw explains that bravery is overcoming your fear. Turley overcame his fear and pulled bodies and survivors.

Torres think he is telling the truth, but Foster says that's because the Captain was flirting with her. Foster feels that the Captain is hiding something.

During the investigation, Cal finds bruises on Turley's son. His son says they are from his dad's army buddy, Ronnie. Looks like Ronnie was having close contact with his mom. Not having an affiar... yet.

Cal finds out that Jeff escaped and they go check with Ronnie. Ronnie tells them it's been tough and that Jeff was there and that his gun is missing. We also find out that there are issues with Captain Renshaw. Looks like we know where Cal's headed.

They go to the Captain's house and the Captain claims Jeff isn't there. But Turley is there... and he has a gun trained right on Renshaw. Don't know about you, but I would be a tad bit concerned at having a sleep deprived half-psychotic man who is DAMN GOOD WITH FIREARMS pissed off at me.

Cal sneaks into the Captain's house and gets the Captain's gun--we have us a showdown!-- and they find out that Jeff is trying to kill himself. He says he let everyone down.

Thanks to Cal's almost unequaled ability to bullshit, he convinces Jeff to finish the virtual reenactment to see what happened in Iraq. Jeff can't get passed that red door. Cal keeps wheedling him until Jeff screams "my son is in there!"

Jeff said he killed a child combatant. But at that leaves everyone wondering why that would make the captain want to kill him?

Cal comes up with a plan:

Cal and the team go with the Captain Renshaw, Ronnie and Jeff to a warehouse to reenact the assult. Jeff remembers that he froze and did not kill the child.

We come to find out that the captain killed a soldier by accident and then called for the area to be destroyed by an air strike. That is what Turley's mind couldn't handle.

There was a small subplot concerning Cal's past: the main plot was a reflection of Cal's life as the child of a war veteran. There are still issues between Cal and his dad... and I think before it is over, we'll get some more details on them.

This wasn't one of the humorous episodes. It took a very serious topic about the mental health of veterans and added that level of mystery that makes Lie to Me entertaining television. I found this week to be very interesting, indeed.

***MINOR SPOILERS BELOW****

Another week, another tasty-delicious Fox Monday and episode of Lie to Me. I will say this up front: This was one of the BEST episodes of this series to date and has solidified Tim Roth as a British God amongst men in this fan girl's book.

This week's episode was a fairly straight forward case-- or so it seemed. An accused black widow, played with aplomb by Melissa George, is on trial for murdering her MUCH older husband for his billion + dollars.



Cal and his team start off as working for the prosecution for this case-- with Cal's ex-wife Zoe (the lovely Jennifer Beals)working on the widow, Clara's defense. If there is one thing we learned in this episode, it's that Cal and Zoe make for DAMN FINE TELEVISION! They match wits better than almost anyone on any show. Leave it to Cal, though, to turn an ordinary trial into high camp AND figure out that the grieving widow is innocent, after all... all the while being thrown out of court more times that you can shake a stick at.



This episode brought the humor out in spades. From every moment Cal stepped up to the stand to a rather risque ruse he and Clara pulled off to test her step-son, there was something that kept me either in a chuckle or a full-blown guffaw.

Speaking of Cal and Clara, they have some very good chemistry together. Tim Roth and Melissa George brought a rather palpable sexual tension and intelligent repartee to their scenes together. Very entertaining to watch.

The resolution to this story was both a twist I didn't see coming and very fulfilling to the story. I dare say, Cal and Clara could have some adventures together-- and I don't think the fans would mind. Here's hoping for a return visit from Ms. George.

I might as well mention this now, but if you didn't watch this episode.... you missed some hella good tasty news about Torres' past. It sent Loker into a tizzy. I won't tell you here, but you'd better find it online. I will say, the guys will like it. They're kinda smarmy that way.
