No Ordinary Family

Recommend: This show is up there with dark chocolate, new shoes, and orgasms :-)
TiVo Worthy: Abso-freaking-lutely!!!
Tubs of Popcorn: Unlimited Refills of Popcorn and Icees!
Reminiscent of: Incredibles; Fantastic Four; X-man….

I have been waiting for this show since I first saw the ad for it…MONTHS ago! I am thrilled to report that it did not disappoint!!! This show is like Incredibles meets Fantastic Four…X-Men...maybe even with a splash of Greatest American Hero. If you like Super Hero or Comic book type plots, this is totally up your alley and a MUST watch. I hope it can go the distance. 3 seasons ago, Heroes started with a bang and then fizzled, sadly it jumped the shark after only one season, if though it aired for 3. I hope with this stellar cast, and more traditional and interesting plot, No Ordinary Family can go the distance. Especially since I have had a thing for Michael Chiklis since The Commish…Julie Benz is adorable and talented…and the kids (Kay Panabaker and Jimmy Bennett) show promise.

Cast:

Meet the Family:
Michael Chiklis as Jim Powell – a police artist who is super-strong, nearly invulnerable, and can leap tall buildings in a single bound
Julie Benz as Stephanie Powell – a scientist with super speed
Kay Panabaker as Daphne Powell – a teenage girl with telepathy

Jimmy Bennett as JJ Powell – a teenage boy with super intelligence

Meet Everyone else:
Romany Malco as George St. Cloud
Tate Donovan as Mitch McCutcheon
Autumn Reeser as Katie Andrews
Christina Chang as Det. Yvonne Cho
Stephen Collins as Dr. Dayton King
Josh Stewart as Watcher

In the first episode, we are introduced to a typical, dysfunctional family…mom, dad, son, and daughter. Mom is a budding scientist. Dad is a police sketch artist. Son is trying to not be put in the remedial class. Daughter is a good girl dating your typical bad boy jerk. They go on a trip for some family bonding time…plane crash…stuff in water…special powers.

Breaking news…Hyperion found the show only so-so. However his family, like I, LOVED it. I thinks this might be due to his own super powers and feeling slightly that they cast Michael Chiklis over him.
